In order to  understand the roman city (urbs) of Tarraco you will need to take a close look at its countryside (ager) from which  the main elements which build the city came from.
In this tour we will visit the main aqueduct, the roman quarry, a villa and its baths and fields.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL HAVE TO PROVIDE YOUR OWN PRIVATE TRANSPORT FOR THIS TOUR.

Route: Aqueduct (Devil’s Bridge), Mèdol Quarry, Els Munts Villa (Altafulla) and Scipion’s Tower.

Duration: 3h

In order to exist Tarraco was wholly dependent from its surrounding countryside: it needed stone to build its houses and walls, food from its fields and a constant supply of water.  In order to understand the technical process of bringing water to the city, we will visit its main imposing aqueduct, known in nowadays as Pont del Diable, and then continue down the road to the Pedrera del Mèdol, the immense quarry which provided the prime building material for the large houses and defenses of Tarraco. We then continue to the quiet settings of the Villa dels Munts with its orchards and baths, and, on the way back, stop at the  large mausoleum known as the tower of Scipions.
